UL-ONLINE.net Exposed Sep 1, 15:00
Edit on Sunday, September 02, 2007 – You can still access UL-Online.net in spite of the fact the index was removed (I found this out because I had subscribed to Dan’s feed and it showed that she’d updated). The most recent blog contains the following:
I assure you. I was sent an email about her being accused. Dan lives in Australia and is 15, I certainly am not. I pay her for my hosting because she agrees she doesn’t like people starting all this drama. She has told me she think’s my site is a bad idea because it will only start more drama. And has asked me to just close it down. Which I supose I will because that’s what she wants.
If I could prove to you this is not Dan I would. She said “I’ve changed my site to something more personal so people will leave me alone, I don’t appreciate this bullshit”. Please back off, I’ll leave this because you and her all seem to care too much.
UL – Ule.
I am not Dan
Right, Ule, real original. UL stands for Unwritten Law, as we already know, so that blows that argument out of the water. And unless Dan happens to have a sister or roommate named Ule then Dan = Ule and Ule = Dan. Dan has unfortunately decided to close FarkOath down because she isn’t guilty (that makes sense) and because “I don’t take this whole website owning thing as seriously as you guys. It’s not my life and obsession. So I think I’ll leave you to get over it.”
Welcome to UL-ONLINE., I am not Dan, About UL-Online, Submit and you can view a saved copy of the I am not Dan blog here (there is a comment form on the I am not Dan blog, if you want to comment on it then apparently you are more than welcome to in spite of the fact that “Ule” clearly stated “I won’t be having comments because I don’t care”).
I’d recommend reading about Rhiannon’s experience with Dan because it shows just how big of a sleaze Dan really is. Oops, sorry, how big of a sleaze Ule really is. Also check out the blog Dan posted on this.
Edit 2 – Dan deleted the entry I quoted where she says “Why are you all trying to fuck up the way other people look at the internet”, the whole category has been deleted. You can navigate Dan’s site by clicking here because she didn’t delete her Wordpress installation.
UL-Online.net has been set up as a safe haven for people who have been pantsed, investigated or just caught red handed by the big bads of the internet. The basic idea is that if you have been in any way harassed or defamed on the internet you can then go to UL to complain and UL will give that big bad meanie a taste of their own medicine. It’s a novel idea, but it really only works if the wronged person is in the right, and more often than not the type of person who would use this website is no where near being right. After all how many people are willing to go to such great lengths to achieve petty revenge? Apparently not many because UL hasn’t updated her website in spite of the fact I know she has gotten at least one complaint email.
Right away I was curious about who it was, so I decided to do some digging. I found out that the website was registered by Pixelled Solutions through Go Daddy in February of this year. I also found out, via the Google cache, that it was originally intended to be an Unwritten Law fansite (you can view the alternative copy of the Google cache of the page here). The email given on the Google cache was dan@ul-online.net and that made me think of Dan of FarkOath.com. And why not? She uses Pixelled Solutions, she’s had run-ins with Jem and Rhiannon before (enough so that’d she’d hold a grudge given her high level of maturity) and her English is horrible in spite of the fact it’s her first language.
Unfortunately that doesn’t really prove anything, so when Jem suggested obtaining an email from UL to check the IP address I decided to send UL an email under the name Carol. The email consisted of me crying about how someone (by the name of Becky * wink wink *) had told me that my website sucked and offered my experience up as the first blog ever on UL-Online. After I got an email back from UL I sent the headers off to Jem who matched the IP address in the headers to the IP address that Dan used when she commented on our sites. The IP from the email is slightly different, however, it’s from the same place as the IP Dan used when she commented and the chances of that being wrong are slim to nil.
So given that UL is pissed off at Jem and Rhiannon (as well as Snark Forums, which Jem frequents) and not Internet Police I think it’s a given that UL has been involved with Jem and Rhiannon in a less than pleasant way before. Couple that with the registrar, the grammar and spelling, and the IP address I think it’s pretty safe to say that it’s Dan who is behind the Unwritten Law fansite turned internet revenge site.
Hiding behind an assumed name to bring down people for posting about other peoples stupidity? For shame, for shame you can’t sink much lower than that. It all makes me wonder how confident she is in her stance against the big bad meanies of the internet if she won’t even attach her name to the website she wants to use against them. Perhaps she was hoping her arguments wouldn’t be as weak if she didn’t attach her name to them (which would make people think she’s not just out for revenge), or perhaps she’s just a coward, probably a bit of both. At least she admits that she’s a hipicrite [sic] given that her last blog on FarkOath.com contains this paragraph:
Why are you all trying to fuck up the way other people look at the internet by publicly announcing how much you despise someone you don’t know for the entertainment of your readers? Lately it’s been a bit loathsome for me to come on the internet. I know if I go online I’m going to see someone else have a some internet biff with someone who doesn’t like the way you have used ‘there’ when it should be ‘their’ or something like that. All because they are trying to entertain readers. It’s been a trend.
Didn’t anyone ever teach you that two wrongs don’t make a right? If you’re truly against people posting anything negative about you, or anyone else, then why start UL-Online? You’re a pathetic coward, at least Jem, Rhiannon, Sarai and myself attach our names to what we do and let what may come our way come. You’re hiding behind an assumed name, and not covering your tracks very well, because you don’t have any real point to this other than you’re pissed that someone outed you for your stupidity. You’re perfectly content to sit on your high horse preaching, but the minute someone displeases you by saying something as simple as your grammar and spelling are horrible (which they truly are, “hipicritical” and “sence”? Get a dictionary please) suddenly it’s a crime against humanity and you’re allowed to say whatever you want about that person because it’s “karma”.
She, of course, makes sure to stress on UL that she’s got a life, that this is just an occasional way to combat boredom and that she’ll only update when at work (because when you’re at work you almost always have nothing better to do, like work) or on a boring weekend. That probably stems from the idea that anyone who dares to “pants” someone or “investigate” them was beaten as a child and has way to much time on their hands. Hey who knows, maybe this is true because she hasn’t updated UL yet, or maybe the market for petty revenge isn’t as lucrative as she originally thought. After all, not everyone is as immature and cowardly as she must be.
So Dan, if you truly believe in karma then this is karma delivering a kick square to your ass. Enjoy.
