Textpattern Comment Preview Sep 3, 20:02
One of the biggest problems people seem to have with Textpattern is that the comment preview is mandatory, you can’t shut it off. There is a good reason for that though, it prevents spam (unlike Wordpress, even with Akismet) and gives you a chance to check your comment over before you submit it. But I’ve got to wonder: How many people click the preview button and browse away in spite of the message I have pasted beneath the comment box.
The solution is quite obvious: txp:if_comments_preview. Put it in your comments_display form, wrap it all in a DIV, slap a class or an ID on it and Bob’s your Uncle.
<txp:if_comments_allowed>
<txp:comments />
<txp:if_comments_preview>
<div id="cpreview">
<p>This is only a preview so please press submit before exiting.</p>
<txp:comments_preview />
</div>
</txp:if_comments_preview>
</txp:if_comments_preview></div>
<txp:comments_form />
<txp:else />
</txp:if_comments_allowed>
This is the CSS: #cpreview {background:#f9f3a1;} That’s really all there is to it, as usual if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Oh and I’ve installed a new plugin: rah_commentquoting_js. It uses JavaScript, but it allows you to select the text you want to quote (after selecting the text just hit the link marked “Quote” directly above the comment). If you happen to be browsing with JavaScript disabled then you can quote people by using bq*. without the asterisk obviously, use bq*.. (two periods) when you’re quoting more than one paragraph and start the paragraph immediately after with a p*.
