Stay away from Netrillium Feb 22, 17:50
If you don’t you’ll regret it. Two years ago I registered this domain with them, it was $8.50 and the service wasn’t that bad. I renewed it with them, in spite of the fact that I had a few reservations due to several people talking about how they were getting worse, and lost my domain for a few weeks. The money order I sent took a few weeks to get there, then it had to be processed, long story short: I lost this domain from March 17, 2007 to April 01, 2007. All was well until February when I decided to renew my domain again and ran into a few problems.
- First off when I attempted to log into the user area of Netrillium I was informed that I was not in the database! Even though I had in hand an email from them telling me where to go, my username and password. After I emailed support they added me to the database. That was only the beginning.
- After I renewed my domain, intending to go out and pay the money order the next day, I found out that they expected me to pay with a credit or debit card with no option to switch to mail in payment. Lovely.
- After pissing around with support some more they changed it to mail in payments. However, this is the great bit, they expected my payment to arrive (please note this was in the middle of the night, I have a screwed up sleeping pattern) on the 21st. The same day that I had submitted the support ticket to get my payment method changed.
- Now? Now I’m being bombarded with “Payment Overdue” notices, so I submitted yet another support ticket to them and asked if this was something to worry about. They told me no, to just mail in my payment as usual and that it would all be fine.
- Except it isn’t fine! I just got an email telling me that if I don’t pay by the specified due date then the system will automatically suspend my account.
I haven’t received a response to my email, in which I asked what they expected me to do, so I’ll keep you all updated. For right now I’m waiting for my brother to get home to ask him if I could possibly set up a secondary site or two on his domain so I don’t have to use Wordpress. In the event that that doesn’t happen, or my domain is suspended, then check out the following sites: babblativecom.livejournal.com, becks.wordpress.com, babblative.tumblr.com, babblative.vox.com and babblative.deviantart.com. If I can’t announce the new temporary URL here, I’ll announce it on one, or all, of those.
