Quickie Review: Hidden Expedition Titanic

I’m a big fan of the Mystery Case Files games, so when I found out that Big Fish Games had come out with a similar game called Hidden Expedition Titanic I had to download it and try it out. I thought that I’d at least have as much fun as I did in MCF: Huntsville (Prime Suspects is the better game, and the sequel to MCF: Huntsville), unfortunately it was not to be. HET is quite obviously a quickie game that they didn’t put that much effort into. They recycled graphics from both MCF games and it was easy in comparison to MCF: Prime Suspects and I completed it before the demo ran out.

You’re a diver who has been hired to retrieve a priceless crown from the Titanic, along the way you do a scavenger hunt for various items while working your way to the end. You also have the option of collecting jewels, I couldn’t figure out why you were collecting the jewels. My guess is that they wanted to prolong the time it took you to reach the finish line.

I’ve always been fascinated by shipwrecks so a game that takes place in one is pretty much guaranteed to find its way onto my computer. In fact, my interest in shipwrecks started with the Titanic so this game, at first, was like a double ice cream cone. By the time I finished it I felt like I’d dropped those two scoops into my lap.

If you’re going to try this game out I would recommend that you use full screen and not window view. Some things are very hard to spot in the window view because of the way they were hidden and or their size. This was probably my biggest turnoff as I prefer to browse with a window so I can multi-task.

I wouldn’t recommend this game, if you’re looking for a good boredom buster try the MCF games, this one just isn’t worth it.
