New Layout for Internet Police Jan 8, 15:41
I spent the better part of today porting a rather lovely Wordpress theme over to Textpattern for use on Internet Police, if you have some time then check it out because it is as Sarai says “velvety chocolate”. I’ve also been scurrying around adding bits and pieces to the IP website to improve functionality.
- I put the hak_textile_tags back into the site, truth-be-told I hadn’t realised that they’d been removed.
- I brightened up the “this is just a preview of your comment” bit when you go to preview, so hopefully people will notice and hit submit.
- I’ve also added a bit of text above the submit and preview buttons indicating that you must first preview and then submit. (Just a note, I wanted to include rainbow text in there somewhere so no one could miss it. Sarai put her foot down, though, so no scrolling rainbow marquee text. Sorry.)
- You now have the ability to quote comments thanks to rah_commentquoting_js. It’s the same as on this site: use the mouse to highlight the text you want to quote and hit quote. Start typing after the
p.
I’ve also done quite a bit more behind the scenes, that mainly involved tidying up some very messy code and mucking about with images. Now instead of having a random butterfly image on one post and the now standard curly “IP” on others, the curly “IP” is default. As are the proper set of rating stars because the random, badly anti-aliased stars were grating on my nerves.
Oh yes, and if anyone was wondering why the long hiatus, I’ve been sick for quite a while now. Nothing serious, just a bad sinus infection that I’ve almost completely recovered from. Don’t worry, though I’m going to be changing the header and colour scheme of this layout, too. It’s getting a bit ridiculous :P
