My Firefox
I’ve spent years creating the perfect Firefox experience, for me at least. When I switched over from Internet Explorer I modified Firefox to resemble IE’s basic setup. Address bar in its own menu, buttons arranged in a similar way as IE, etc., etc. Over the years little has changed, until a few weeks ago when I was poked and prodded into making some changes. I got rid of a few extensions, rearranged the layout and added a few new extensions and I’d like to share them with you. I’m even including a few I don’t use!

Adblock Plus is a must have for everyone, I don’t think I need to say why. I use it in conjunction with Filterset.G I now no longer use Filterset G thanks to this comment by Ares. Thanks, Ares!
Hi,
Maybe you don’t know it but it is not recommend to use Filterset.G for Adblock Plus (any more). This is what the developer of Adblock Plus says about it: http://adblockplus.org/en/faq_project#filterset.g . I addition to the things mentioned there, Filterset.G has not been updated since March, so the project is kind of dead.
In the FAQ, there is also a link to the other filterlists, my personal favourite is EasyList+EasyElement ;)

Autofill Forms I always forget to use the shortcut for this extension, if only it were permanent and entered the proper information every time it came across an input form.
Colorzilla this extension is invaluable! I use it all the time. It’s so much better than opening Photoshop or another program to grab a colour from a webpage. I prefer to keep it as an extension instead of an external program like Pixie because I’m more likely to use the extension if it’s sitting right there. Yes I am that lazy.
Compact Menu 2 I use this to reduce bulk on the screen as I have a couple of toolbars. The more viewing space I have the better.
Forecastfox l10n according to Mozillazine there are memory leak problems with Forecast Fox and they recommend that you use Forecastfox l10n instead. I noticed that my Firefox perked up after I installed Forecastfox l10n.
FoxyTunes yet another must have plugin for anyone who likes browsing the internet with music enabled. My computer is old and slow and it doesn’t like me quickly switching from one memory intensive program to another (in this case it’s iTunes), so it makes the switch very slowly and complains and weezes the whole way. It’s much easier to have little play/pause buttons in my status bar.
Gmail Notifier I used to leave Gmail open in a tab so I could see any new messages immediately. Then I used to use Gmail Manager, but after a while I got sick and tired of the longish load time on startup. So I decided to switch to Gmail Notifier and I’ve never looked back.
Google Reader Notifier I started using this after I accidentally deleted my bookmarks. In my bookmarks were my Sage feeds, so I lost everything. Quite frankly I don’t understand how I lived so long without Google Reader, it allows me to organize everything with tags and it even recommends feeds based on the feeds I currently have!
Google Preview I like this extension because it lets me quickly scan the results of a search for the exact site that I’m looking for.
Image Zoom this one is great for zooming in on details in images when you can’t be bothered to open up your preferred image editing program. It’s also great for picking up certain colours with Colorzilla.
NoSquint if you’re short-sighted like I am then you’ll want to install this one. If you’ve ever resized the text on a website only to browse to another page within the website to find that your text size has disappeared then you’ll love this. It remembers the preferred text size for each site whose text size you modify. Basically it’s awesome.
Palette Grabber I steal pretty much all of my colour schemes from other sites (I dare you to name them) and this little tool makes my job much, much easier.
PDF Download PDF’s are slow to load and they freeze Firefox up. This extension is a must. No really, it’s a must.
Quicknote screw opening up a new Notepad when I can just click a button and save it within Firefox. This extension opens in a new tab, in a floating window or in the sidebar.
RIP for all those pesky ads that Adblock doesn’t remove you need Remove it Permanently.
Resizeable Textarea some people insist on making their textareas tiny thus ensuring that their visitors are barely able to comment. And sometimes you just need more height in a textarea. This is one of my favourite extensions.
Resurrect I hate stumbling across dead pages, this makes it much easier to check and see if they were archived anywhere.
StumbleUpon c’mon, who doesn’t have this?
Stylish because some people can’t design a website to save their lives. And sometimes I don’t want the website I’m modifying to look like the website I’m modifying because it’s embarrassing.
TwitterBar while I’m still not a huge fan of Twitter I like to post the odd update to it. If there isn’t an extension somewhere in my browser reminding me to, I’d never do it. The extension is lovely simply because it’s so unobtrusive.
Web Developer ‘nuff said.
YesScript because I prefer a blacklist to a whitelist. I used to just browse with JavaScript disabled, now I just blacklist certain sites and be done with it. It’s great because most web statistic programs use JavaScript to retrieve visitor information, I like hiding under a cloak of anonymity.
Themes
Human and Tango Theme is the one I prefer to use because it matches the Linux theme I apply to Windows. The only other theme I really care for is Whitehart.

Nice entry, I use many of those extensions myself. I think I’ll take note of a few of these and try them out, especially the gmail notifier and I have to agree that pdf download is a definite cannot live without extension
