My Dog had a Seizure

I couldn’t get to sleep tonight so after tossing and turning and trying to fall asleep I finally gave up and went downstairs to waste some time on the computer working on Babblative Reviews.

Around quarter after five our older dog, who was sitting on the chair behind me, started to make smacking noises. I turned around and he seemed okay, he was sitting up and alert so I turned back around satisfied that he was okay. A few seconds later I heard what I thought was vomiting so I got up to check on him.

I wasn’t concerned because he usually vomits once a month or so because his stomach is so sensitive. By the time I got to him he was stiff as a board and convulsing. Unfortunately he had a seizure, he appears to be fine, if not a little anxious, disoriented and wobbly. He’ll be going to the Vet’s shortly so we’ll know more then.

Edit: All went well at the Vet’s, she recommended a hypoallergenic food for us to try instead of medication and pronounced him healthy. We got him home and about four hours later he seized again. My mother rushed him to the Vet again and she put him on Phenobarbital and gave us Valium to give him if he has a seizure while on the Phenobarbital.

The test results will be back in a few days so hopefully we’ll know more then. As of right now we’re just guessing at what it is. We’re hoping Epilepsy, as a best case scenario.

Our dog has seizures several times a month due to his epilepsy, but it took us years to get him diagnosed properly. I hope everything goes well

I hope your dog is ok. My dog is dying so hearing about other peoples pets kills me.

Think positively.

My last dog had epilepsy her whole life – we knew about it from the day we got her at 4 months old, though, so it wasn’t a huge surprise whenever she had a seizure.

She still lead a long and happy life, though (although I have to admit that it was a seizure that lead to the heart attack that killed her. But by that time she was quite old). I’m sure your dog will be fine :)

Hope your dog’s okay. My mom basically killed our second dog which was only a puppy. She just left him in the garage to eat whatever he could find. To this day I still haven’t forgiven her.
