Low crafting-esteem
As a knitter and crocheter I have a bit of low crafting-esteem. Every time I browse the yarn section of my favourite store (or rather one of the few stores around here that carries a large selection of yarn and crochet threads), Lens Mill Store I look at the yarns and think “Is this too ‘craftster.org’ for me?” Every project I start usually starts with “Is this too weird/old ladyish/ugly?” Perhaps low crafting-esteem isn’t the right word, maybe it’s more of a fear of becoming a craftster.org participant that has be second-guessing everything that I do.
On my current knitlist are:
- Knitty’s Ice Queen,
- A blanket motif pattern that isn’t available online,
- 1 scarf in an all-over lace pattern (similar to the Ice Queen lace pattern, but not exactly) using lace-weight wool,
- A shawl from the Vogue Knitting Holiday 2007 edition using a nice creamy mohair blend,
- Another scarf knit in garter stitch using warm, bulky yarn because the wind creeps down my coat,
- A test hat made out of Katra yarn, it’s a very basic stockinette stitch hat,
- A pile of crocheted snowflakes for my mother.
Okay so it’s nothing overly amazing, just a bunch of straight knitting and easy crochet (even the knitting in the round is easy as pie). So to you, dear reader, should I ever become the thing I claim to hate (a craftster.org monster) then you have my permission to hunt me down and torture me until I renounce my craftster.org ways.
No, seriously.
