Colours are merely a reflection of my deep inner self
There are a lot of things that irk me, and when I talk about those things each one will be my biggest pet peeve. Here is another one of my biggest pet peeves (although it will become a lesser pet peeve by the time I find someone who does something that is stupider).
Using colour to set yourself apart on a forum! Sounds innocent, right? Wrong. It’s so very, very wrong to try and make yourself stand out by using coloured text in your posts.
Now I’ve been called anal retentive for thinking that, but since most forums have several different themes with varying colours using a default colour/text is in your best interests. We all want to be heard, but by making our posts unreadable to a large group of people we’re diminishing our chance of being heard.
Besides, shouldn’t we be trying to set ourselves apart by being different as opposed to attracting unwanted attention by changing our text colour? If you honestly have to have blinding colours as your text colour then perhaps you should take a step back and evaluate whether or not you’re doing it because you’re a boring person, or because you’re stupid enough to think that the colour of a text (and not the words themselves) are a reflection of your deep inner self.
Yes this is ranting about a girl who joined DisasterMB and using very bright colours in her entry posts. It’s not particularly entertaining, but I’ve seen a lot of n00bs do it on n00bish forums and I’ve always found it annoying. Plus this entry was sitting half-finished in my drafts section so I dusted it off to post.
You can read the blog about it here: Color of Perspective and the thread that sparked it here: Run for your life, I’m a n00b . I love how the comments are closed to all but her close personal friends. Talk about narrow minded!
